MANILA, Philippines – The provincial government of Bulacan has ordered the strict enforcement of policies that would ensure the protection and safety of its residents against COVID-19.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel  Fernando on March 16 issued Executive Order No. 8-2021, imposing curfew from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting today, March 17.

Only those in need of emergency services and employees with “proper documentation” will be exempted from the curfew.

Minimum public health standards that include social distancing, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and the wearing of face masks and face shields would also be “strictly observed.”

Further, the directive states that border checkpoints would be set up in a bid to contain the new coronavirus in critical areas of the province.

Fernando also asked help from the police and military to ensure that safety protocols will be followed.

As of March 17, the Philippines has recorded 635,698 COVID-19 cases, of which 561,099 patients have recovered while 12,866 others have died.
