An ex-convict who wanted to benefit from the stimulus money his girlfriend had received killed four of her family members including a child over the financial dispute in Indiana in the  United States.

Malik Halfacre, 25, believed he deserved half of the $1,400 aid that his girlfriend, Jeanettrius Moore, had received from the government, as per Fox affiliate WXIN on March 15.

Moore, who was described by her cousin as a hardworking mother supporting herself and her two kids, first told her boyfriend that he did not deserve the money as she was taking care of the children by herself.

As the argument went on, Moore apparently offered Halfacre $450 (around P68,000), but he wanted half and told Moore, “I’m still gonna get that money.”

The cousin, named Wendy Johnson, said Moore told her about the argument last Friday, March 12. The next evening, Haflacre reportedly walked past Moore in front of her house and gave her an “evil look.”

Shortly after, Halfacre returned and opened fire inside Moore’s house, injuring her and killing four: Moore’s daughter, 7-year-old Eve Moore; her brother, 23-year-old Daquan Moore; her mother, 44-year-old Tomeeka Brown; and her cousin, 35-year-old Anthony Johnson.

“Daquan was trying to save his sister. He was taking up for his sister. He stood up and said, ‘You cannot have the money. You cannot have her money.’ That’s what she said and pushed Malik, and Malik pulled out the gun and just started killing everybody,” Johnson was quoted as saying.

“He shot Daquan first. He shot Anthony. He turned around, and he shot my Auntie Tomeeka. My Auntie Tomeeka said, ‘Malik!’ and he shot her again. He came back and shot Daquan for the second time and somewhere between little Baby Eve got hit somewhere and she was screaming, she was screaming,” she added.

Aside from committing the gruesome quadruple murder, Halfacre also kidnapped his infant daughter with Moore and fled the scene driving a car.

Lorenzo Moore, also a brother of Moore, said he came home to find his family dead on the floor “because they let a monster out of prison.”

Halfacre was accused of shooting a man five times in 2017, but got out of prison just a year as he pleaded guilty for a lesser charge, according to the report.

“We always knew that he carried a gun,” Lorenzo was quoted as saying. “He didn’t have a job—just laying around being lazy.”

Halfacre has since confessed to killing the four victims; stealing Moore’s money, purse and car; and abducting their baby, as per court documents cited by ABC affiliate WRTV yesterday, March 16.

The suspect reportedly dropped the baby off at his sister’s house before trying to escape, although the sister called 911 and reported having the missing child.

The sister, whose name was withheld, then disclosed to police that her brother had told her of the incident and that he had gone looking for a friend to help him escape.

Authorities later identified a house where Halfacre was most likely hiding, the report said. They then found him in the attic and arrested him over charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery. Ian Biong /ra
