Ex-Palawan governor infected with coronavirus

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—Former Palawan governor and current Games and Amusement Board (GAB) chair Baham Mitra tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, according to his brother on Tuesday (March 16).

Jorge Mitra, Baham’s brother, took to Facebook on Tuesday evening and said his brother is on quarantine at a government-accredited facility.

“Baham has always followed all safety protocols especially in his recent travels to other provinces in connection with his work,” said Jorge on Facebook.

“We believe his infection may be the new and more infectious variant,” Jorge added.

Jorge, however, did not say when his brother tested positive for the virus and why he believed Baham got infected with a new variant.

Baham arrived in Puerto Princesa last March 3.

He was previously allowed to travel after his negative test result, which was a requirement for entering the city.
