Occidental Mindoro lists 11 new COVID-19 cases

CITY OF CALAPAN—Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday (March 16) reported 11 new COVID-19 cases.

A social media post by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) at 8:18 p.m. said 10 of the cases were from Mamburao, the provincial capital, while one was from the town of Calintaan.

Two recoveries were reported, both involving people who had been stranded but were from the town of Rizal.

Earlier, 13 villages in Mamburao had been put on quarantine from March 16 to 31 to stop the transmission of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

On Sunday (March 14), the provincial government announced that the capitol would be manned by a skeletal force starting on Monday (March 15) until March 31.

A curfew is also being imposed in Mamburao town starting March 15. Residents are not allowed outside their homes from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. until the end of the month.

The province has reported a total of 260 COVID-19 cases with 218 recoveries and 12 deaths.

Cases of infection among stranded people had reached 47 with 41 recoveries and one death.
