CITY OF BALANGA—Mayors in Bataan are being asked to prepare to bring the province’s vaccination program to the province’s remotest villages.
Gov. Albert Garcia on Monday (March 15) said local officials, including those in village levels, would be mobilized to carry out a full-blast vaccination drive for coronavirus.
“This is a concerted effort of the national, provincial, and municipal governments in coordination with our vaccination team,” Garcia said as he led the vaccination of another batch of health and other workers on the frontlines at the Bataan People’s Center.
As of Tuesday (March 16), the provincial health office reported that at least 1,500 health workers and frontline health workers in government hospitals had been injected with CoronaVac, the vaccine made by Chinese company Sinovac and donated by the Chinese government. No adverse effects had been so far reported, Garcia said.
The governor said the next batch of doses would arrive in Bataan by the second or third quarter this year.
Garcia said the provincial government is in search of other areas that could serve as vaccination sites.
He said he wanted vaccination sites to be accessible to villagers.
