Roque turns down request to make public his Covid-19 test results

Roque won't show COVID-19 test results to public

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday declined to show in public his positive Covid-19 test result, saying he does not think it is important.

“Bakit naman gusto nila [Why do they want it]? I don’t understand that, but let me see if I have it. Hindi ko maintindihan [I don’t understand] why I have to show it actually,” Roque said in an online briefing when asked to show his Covid-19 test results.

“Anyway, I don’t think it’s important,” he added.

Roque announced on Monday that he tested positive for coronavirus, though he was asymptomatic.

He is undergoing quarantine at an Oplan Kalinga isolation facility.

Roque is the most recent among officials who recently caught COVID-19 like Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director-General Wilkins Villanueva and Philippine National Police chief Gen. Debold Sinas.

On Tuesday, health officials recorded 4,437 new coronavirus infections bringing the total active Covid-19 cases to 57,736.
