Rep. Mike Defensor says he tested positive for coronavirus
MANILA, Philippines — Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor disclosed Tuesday he has contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Defensor said he tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago and will have another test to see if he has recovered from the disease on Wednesday.
“Mga two weeks na ito, nag-positive ako sa Covid along with seven people in my house, including my son-in-law pero okay naman. Hindi kami severe, wala naman masyadong—siguro asymptomatic kaming dalawa,” Defensor said in an interview with reporters.
(It has been two weeks since I’ve been tested positive for [coronavirus] along with seven people in my house, including my son-in-law but we are okay. Not so severe, it much of…maybe we are symptomatic.)
“Quarantine lang kami and of course, yung basic na mga gamot, inom ng mga vitamins and observe ‘yung protocols [We just need to undergo quarantine and of course medicines and observe the (health) protocols],” he added.
Article continues after this advertisementDefensor said he believes he has already recovered from the disease but he said this still needs to be confirmed through his Covid-19 test on Wednesday.
Article continues after this advertisementThe lawmaker likewise, said he did not have any direct contact except with his family.
On Monday, Negros Oriental 1st District Jocelin Limkaichong also announced she has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post, Limkaichong said she is asymptomatic and is currently under quarantine in Manila.
