A man who beat up his grandfather to death with a baseball bat and cut off both the old man’s ears was arrested by police on Saturday, March 13 in Florida.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department received a call to investigate a home in the city of DeLand and found the victim, Ronal Wells Sr., 77, dead on the home’s front porch. The victim had multiple stab wounds, NBC affiliate WESH 2 reported on March 14.
The victim’s grandson Kolby Allen Parker, 30, was questioned by officers.
Parker initially told authorities that he and his grandfather were smoking drugs together when a fight began. He claimed that his grandfather attacked him with a knife inside their home, which led him to disarm Wells and turn the weapon against his own grandfather.
Responding police said in the report that in the middle of questioning, Parker pulled out two human ears from his pockets. They added that Parker began attacking and fighting the deputies after showing the ears, but he was eventually placed under arrest.
Parker later changed the story that he was telling officers and admitted to hitting his grandfather multiple times with the baseball bat. He also confessed to using the butcher knife to stab the old man repeatedly.
He added that the ears he showed to officers were indeed his grandfather’s ears. He told them that he wanted his grandfather to be with his deceased grandmother, the report stated.
Parker has been charged with second-degree murder, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence. He is in jail under no bond. Dana Cruz/JB
