MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sunday said it would work closely with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) in the investigation of the killings of nine activists in Southern Luzon provinces on March 7.
“We took the initiative to talk to the CHR because we promised the United Nations that we will work more closely with our CHR,” Guevarra said in a radio interview.
“I contacted yesterday the representative of the CHR and informed them about the creation of special investigating teams under the AO-35 committee and we asked their cooperation for the case buildup,” he said.
“The CHR said it is willing to help the AO-35 committee,” he added, referring to the interagency committee formed to investigate extrajudicial killings.
