Low pressure expected to dump rain on Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area off Davao is bringing rains to Mindanao and cloudy skies, with the possibility of rains and thunderstorms, to the rest of the country, the weather bureau said Saturday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the low pressure area was 170 kilometers northeast of Davao City at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Pagasa said that Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao would experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. These could become widespread rains over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, and trigger flashloods and landslides.
The rest of Luzon would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoons or evenings.
The formation of the low pressure area came soon after tropical depression Dodong left the Philippines, leaving deadly floods in some places.
