MANILA, Philippines — It’s going to be a rainy Sunday over parts of the country due to a low-pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of frontal system, the state weather said Sunday.
In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted at 70 kilometers northeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The LPA, however, has a minimal chance of developing to a tropical depression, Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.
Meanwhile, the tail-end of the frontal system is currently affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon, Mendoza added.
Hence, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Bicol and Visayas regions, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Caraga region
The northeast monsoon is also affecting Northern Luzon, and will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the Ilocos region and rest of Central Luzon also due to the northeast monsoon, Mendoza said.
Metro Manila and the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, he added.
