Zambales town hall locked down after employee tests positive for coronavirus
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The municipal hall was locked down on Friday (March 12) after one of its workers tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, officials said.
Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the patient was a 54-year-old female employee of the treasury department.
The lockdown will allow thorough disinfection and contact tracing, Bueno said. But it was not immediately known how long the lockdown would last.
He said rapid antigen tests, which detects antibodies against the virus, showed that the patient’s eight co-workers could be infected, too, and had been sent to quarantine in a hospital in Iba town.
