Light to moderate rains over Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Light to moderate rains may be experienced in different areas of Visayas and Mindanao due to the low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of General Santos City, state meteorologists said Wednesday.
Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday afternoon showed that the LPA was last seen 675 kilometers east of General Santos City.
Pagasa maintained that there is a low chance for the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone. However, the cloud bands brought by the weather disturbance can also cause occasional heavy rains especially in the eastern side of Visayas and Mindanao.
“Nananatili pong mababa ang tsansa na ito ay maging isang bagyo o maging isang tropical depression. Ngunit patuloy po itong magdudulot ng mga light to moderate to at times heavy na mga pag-ulan sa buong bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao,” weather specialist Ana Clauren said.
(The low pressure area still has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression. However, it would still cause light to moderate to at times heavy rains over the whole Visayas and Mindanao.)

Pagasa said that this means there would be a low chance of rain in areas like the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

Temperatures in Luzon for Thursday would be lower due to the presence of the amihan: Metro Manila may register something between 22 to 31 degrees Celsius, 20 to 29 degrees in Tuguegarao, 21 to 32 degrees in Laoag, 13 to 24 degrees in Baguio, 21 to 29 degrees in Tagaytay, and 24 to 31 degrees in Puerto Princesa.
Legazpi may also see lower temperatures and rains on Thursday due to the possible formation of a tail end of a frontal system, which occurs when the cold winds from the amihan meet the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
Cloudy skies would prevail over Visayas and Mindanao still due to the LPA, which will cause lower temperatures like Cebu and Zamboanga’s 24 to 29 degrees Celsius, Davao and Tacloban’s 23 to 28 degrees, and Cagayan de Oro’s 23 to 28 degrees.
No gale warning has been raised as of now but Pagasa said that sea condition over Luzon’s western and northern waters, along with the whole eastern seaboard would be moderate to rough. The rest of the country’s seas would have a slight to moderate condition.
