Sorsogon starts COVID-19 jabs for health workers
LEGAZPI CITY –– Vaccination procedures in three government-run hospitals in Sorsogon province started on Wednesday, March 10, for health workers on the frontlines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Noemi Bron, Department of Health (DOH) Bicol public affairs chief, said Sorsogon is the third province in the region to receive the government’s vaccine rollout after the agency recently received 12,000 vials of CoronaVac developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
The provinces of Camarines Sur and Albay received their allotments earlier this month.
Sorsogon was allotted 960 single-dose vials of these vaccines on Tuesday, the DOH Bicol said.
Bron said the initial vaccine allocation delivered to Sorsogon was for government health workers in the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital (460 vials), Metro Health Specialist Inc. (200 vials), and Sorsogon Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (300 vials).
The rollout was made after the three hospitals completed their vaccine simulation procedures.
