CSC office in Legazpi City on lockdown after employee contracts COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) in the Bicol region has announced that its office will be placed on lockdown after a male employee tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, March 7.

Lawyer Daisy Punzalan Bragais, CSC Bicol director said the temporary office closure starts on Monday until Friday (March 8 to 12) in compliance with health protocols.

Bragais in a phone interview on Sunday said transactions at the agency will not be disrupted as employees will be working from home.

The employee, who manifested symptoms of the virus on March 2, tested positive for COVID-19 and was isolated at the city quarantine facility.

Meanwhile, all the 40 employees of the agency were directed to be on home quarantine while waiting for the results of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests to be released on Monday.

The office, while on lockdown, will be disinfected. Regular transactions at the CSC office will resume on March 15.

The CSC office was the fifth government office to be placed on COVID lockdown in this city. Last year and early this year, the Department of Education Bicol office, the Government Service Insurance (GSIS), Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Legazpi City Hospital were all placed on temporary lockdown after employees and visitors tested positive for COVID-19.
