1 dead, 2 arrested in Davao del Sur drug buy-bust

DIGOS CITY——A truck driver was killed while his two aides were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz town, Davao del Sur province on Tuesday (March 2).

Maj. Crisaldo Gaila, Sta. Cruz police chief, said Lembang Nasser Alim, 46, of Barira town, Maguindanao, drew a .45 caliber pistol and fired at the undercover agent who posed as his buyer.

Gaila said Alim became suspicious after he found that the wad of cash used for the buy-bust contained counterfeit bills.

Alim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Alim, according to Gaila, agreed to consummate the transaction along the national highway at Coronon village past noon on Tuesday.

He went there on his truck with aides Datu Faisal Dimaporo Nasser, 20, and Fahad Dimaporo Nasser, 21, also from Barira town. Both were arrested and brought to the Sta. Cruz police station for further questioning.

Seized from Alim’s possession were 65 grams of meth and a caliber .45 pistol, with a defaced serial number, loaded with five bullets.

Authorities also seized Alim’s truck.

Also found in the crime scene were two bullet shells from a 9 mm pistol.
