MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon is intensifying again and is currently affecting the weather condition in northern and central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday.
“Lumalakas muli ang northeast monsoon o amihan. Kasalukuyang nakakaapekto ito sa northern at central Luzon. Kung mapapansin natin ‘yung mga kulay yellow at kulay blue ay associated ito doon sa medyo makapal na ulap na nagdadala ng mahina hanggang katamtamang mga pag-ulan doon,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said as he presented a satellite image in a weather forecast issued at 4 a.m.
(The northeast monsoon or amihan is intensifying again. It is currently affecting the Northern at Central Luzon. If we can see here, the yellow and blue colors are associated with thick clouds that bring slight to moderate rains in the said areas.)
According to Estareja, the northeast monsoon may continue to intensify in the next two days and extend its effect on the rest of Luzon and Visayas.
He added that there is no low pressure area expected to develop within the Philippine area of responsibility for the rest of the week.
Based on Pagasa’s forecast, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with rains this Wednesday due to the northeast monsoon.
The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to the weather bureau.
