Three drunk drivers were arrested after crashing into each other during the wee hours of Sunday,  Feb. 28, in Wisconsin in the United States.

The three vehicles sustained heavy damage, with one being found engulfed in flames when police arrived at around 2:50 a.m., as per Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) yesterday, March 1. Officers also found out that the driver of the fully engulfed vehicle fled before they arrived.

The accident started when a Ford 250 pickup truck drove southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 32, as per police investigation.

It then collided with a GMC Yukon SUV, whose driver swerved to avoid contact but which was still hit head-on. The third vehicle involved, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, then crashed into the Ford 250.

The drivers of the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and the Ford 250 were found to be intoxicated and were arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired (OWI).

The driver of the GMC Yukon SUV was located at a nearby hospital and found to have also shown signs of impairment then, which led to his arrest on an OWI charge as well.

The MPPD identified the drivers as 33-year-old Christopher Sanchez, 56-year-old Kraig Herbrechtsmeir and 45-year-old Herbert Aguirre-Lopez.

All three vehicles have since been removed by towing companies due to the heavy damage, police said.  /ra
