MANILA, Philippines — Succeeding deliveries of doses of Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac Covid-19 vaccines to the Philippines will depend on how fast the government uses up the jabs it received, a representative of the Chinese pharmaceutical company’s said Monday.

“At least for March, we’re trying to arrange one million [doses] and how much after that, it would depend on how quickly the vaccine [will] be used in the country,” Sinovac General Manager Helen Yang said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.

“I think the speed in giving the vaccination is another factor being considered. Because I think [in] the first half of this year, the supply of the vaccine, no matter if from Sinovac or from other brand, that would be in a shortage,” she added.

Yang noted that there’s a need to manage the supply to “have a better use of the resource.”

On Sunday, some 600,000 doses of Sinovac’s vaccine donated by the Chinese government arrived in the country.

The Philippines has earlier secured 25 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine developed by Sinovac.
