BAGUIO CITY — A fully recovered coronavirus patient here turned out to have contracted the mutated virus last month, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said on Monday following this week’s flag ceremony.

Contact tracing teams are establishing whether or not the former patient was connected to the 21 B.1.1.7. SARS CoV2 (also known as the United Kingdom variant) cases in Bontoc, Mountain Province and La Trinidad, Benguet.

The country’s lone UK variant fatality died in a Baguio hospital in January.
