MANILA, Philippines — Over 60 percent of Filipinos in an informal INQUIRER.net survey say Chief Justice Renato Corona will not be convicted by the Senate, acting as an impeachment court.

As of 2:53 p.m. of Sunday, February 5, 10,057 of 15,510 or 64.84% voted “No” when asked “Do you think the Senate will convict Chief Justice Renato Corona?” while 5,453 or 35.16% said “Yes”

The online survey was started shortly before Corona’s trial where he faces eight Articles of Impeachment for alleged graft and corruption, constitutional violations and betrayal of public trust.
