MANILA, Philippines — After President Duterte’s fresh tirades against him Tuesday night, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV only has this to say to him: to relax and to focus on the government’s vaccine rollout.
“Kitang kita ang takot sa mga pananalita ni Duterte,” Trillanes said in a statement Wednesday which he also posted on Twitter.
“Relax lang sya. Tutukan lang nya ang vaccine rollout. Next year pa naman namin sya ipapakulong,” added the staunch critic of the President.
Duterte, during his recent public address, warned of Trillanes’ possible comeback in politics.
“Inday Sara is not running. I have really really put my foot down. Naaawa ako sa anak ko. Ang pulitika dito sa Pili — kababuyan. Lalo na si Trillanes pati ‘yong anak kong 16 years old ginawa pa ‘tong drug lord,” Duterte said in his pre-recorded briefing in Surigao del Sur aired late Tuesday.
The President was apparently responding to calls for his eldest daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, to join the 2022 presidential derby.
Trillanes, meanwhile, earlier linked Duterte and some family members to alleged illegal drug trade.
“Be careful of Trillanes. Be careful of Trillanes. Magbantay kayo. They will sell — he will sell you to the devil pag ‘yan ang nakaupo, patay,” Duterte added.
