3 men hurt in Cebu City drive-by shootings

Three men were wounded in separate drive-by shootings in Cebu City early morning yesterday.

The Saturday-dawn  shooting incidents happened in a span of 20 minutes.

Police said it was possible that one group was behind the shootings as witnesses gave similar descriptions of the assailants and the car used in the attacks, said PO3 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office.

Violango said the assailants were described as between 20 and 30 years old,  “good-looking” and  appeared to come from  well-off families.

The first shooting happened at the corner of V. Rama and Englis streets in barangay Guadalupe at 3:20 a.m. Five minutes later, another shooting  happened in barangay Labangon.

Police said witnesses  managed to jot down the  numbers “234” of the plate number of a dark-gray sedan.

A 17-year-old boy and Jun Roque Amaya, 24, were wounded in the Guadalupe shooting.

The two were drinking with friends when unidentified men in  a car shot at them.

At 3:25 a.m., a group of men were shot on Katipunan Street in barangay Labangon.

Raniel Labrador was wounded in the chest and shoulder.

The victims were already declared out of danger, said police.

The motive of the attacks is not yet known./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
