Moderate to heavy rain over parts of Mindanao, E. Visayas as TS Auring moves northwest

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rain is expected in parts of Mindanao as Tropical Storm Auring (international name: Dujuan) has started to move northwestward while maintaining its strength, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

In its 2 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said moderate to heavy rain is expected over Eastern Visayas, Caraga,  Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and Camiguin.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rain over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Quezon, and the rest of Visayas and Northern Mindanao, Pagasa added.

Based on Pagasa’s latest data, Auring was last spotted at 320 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Auring is also packing maximum sustained winds at 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

The tropical storm was also monitored moving northwestward at 15 kph.
