‘Auring’ to bring moderate to heavy rain

While Tropical Storm “Auring” (international name: Dujuan) is not expected to make landfall until Sunday, the weather service said that Caraga and parts of Northern Mindanao and Davao regions will experience moderate to heavy rain on Saturday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 p.m. weather bulletin that Auring was spotted 405 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Its maximum sustained winds clock at 85 kilometers per hour while its gusts up to 105 kph.

‘Still offshore’

Auring on Friday was moving westward at 15 kph.

“Auring is still offshore as its center has yet to hit Mindanao, but its thick clouds that have a 300-km radius extend to up to east of Mindanao,” senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.

Auring’s trough is also expected to affect parts of Eastern Visayas on Saturday.

Eastern and Central Visayas, the rest of Northern Mindanao, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato and Davao City will experience light to moderate rain on Saturday.
