Woman hurt in 2 Mandaue robberies

A WOMAN was wounded while a driver-collector lost at least P24,000 cash in separate robberies in Mandaue City on Thursday.

Odessa Cañas, 27, was stabbed in the arm when she refused to give her bag to a man, who held her up around 11 p.m.

Police said the woman was walking along Ouano Avenue in barangay Mantuyong when two men on board a motorcycle stopped in front of her.

The backrider approached the woman and demanded for her bag containing a laptop and a cellphone.

The woman tried to resist but gave up the bag when she was stabbed.

The woman then ran to the police station and reported the robbery.

Jonathan Recilla, 31, told police that he was driving a vehicle along the Mandaue Reclamation Area when he decided to stop to relieve himself in a vacant lot.

Recilla said an armed man held him up and took P24,030 cash and his cellphone worth P2,000. REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
