More suspected robbers killed in QC police operations
MANILA, Philippines — A day after two robbery suspects were killed in a police encounter in Quezon City, seven more alleged robbers died in separate police operations in the city early Friday morning.
In a statement, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Police Brigadier General Danilo Macerin said they received a complaint about five armed men on board motorcycles, who are still unidentified, allegedly robbed a gasoline station along Barangay Pasong Tamo at 4 a.m.
QCPD District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) and Highway Patrol Group (HPG) then acted on the complaint and immediately conducted a dragnet operation to hunt the five suspects.
HPG members immediately spotted and chased the two of the suspected robbers along Baluyot Drive in Barangay Sauyo. A brief shootout ensued between the lawmen and suspects, killing the two alleged robbers.
The three remaining suspects were found along Espiritu Compound, Pingkian 2, Barangay Pasong Tamo, where they were shot dead by DSOU personnel in a reported shootout.

Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, Macerin said the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) shot dead two unidentified robbers during Oplan Sita, which places checkpoints to target motorcycle-riding assailants.
Macerin said the two fatalities were flagged down along a checkpoint at Payatas B in Barangay Payatas at 1:30 a.m. when the suspects reportedly opened fire at the DACU personnel, who retaliated.
The suspects died on the spot while police probers recovered two caliber .38 revolvers; seven fired cartridge cases; two deformed bullets; assorted identification cards and the suspects’ motor vehicle.
Macerin said one of the suspects allegedly had the tattoo of Batang City Jail Gang.
Police also noted that the two suspects were allegedly involved in a robbery incident where a citizens’ motorcycle and personal items were stolen along Luzon Avenue corner Congressional Avenue at 12:30 midnight this Friday.
