2 septuagenarians succumb to COVID-19, baby girl gets virus in San Pablo City

LUCENA CITY –– Two septuagenarians have died from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while a 10-month old girl has contracted the virus in San Pablo City, authorities said.

The San Pablo City Anti-COVID-19 Task Force disclosed in a report on Facebook on Feb. 18 that a 77-year-old man from Barangay Del Remedio and a 72-year-old woman from the village of Santa Monica became the latest addition to the COVID-19 fatalities in the city that now reached 39.

The task force also disclosed that six new confirmed virus carriers have been recorded, including the baby girl from Barangay Santa Monica.

The young patient, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 16, had no recent travel history outside of the locality, but had a record of exposure to a confirmed virus carrier, the report said.

The baby is asymptomatic and under home quarantine and treatment.

As of Feb. 18, with the six new virus carriers, the city has logged a total of 1,211 COVID-19 cases and 1,101 recoveries since the pandemic was declared in March last year.

The city has 71 remaining active cases.
