Manila LGU conducts simulation of COVID-19 vaccination for elderly
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila City government conducted a simulation of COVID-19 mass vaccination for senior citizens on Thursday.
According to the Manila Public Information Office, the simulation exercise was held at the Legarda Elementary School in Sampaloc, and about 100 senior citizens from nearby communities participated in the activity.
Manila City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Pangan said the simulation exercise aims to let senior citizens know more about the city’s COVID-19 vaccination process, especially since they are included in the national government’s priority sectors for inoculation.
He also said the simulation exercise aims to identify the adjustments that should be done by the local government unit in the actual vaccination for the elderly.
According to Pangan, there are around 157,000 senior citizens in the City of Manila, but not all are willing to be vaccinated.

We have to know kung anu-anong mga issues ‘yung puwede nating maranasan kapag magpapabakuna ang mga senior citizens. At the same time, we have to know how these concerns can be resolved,” said Pangan.

According to the Manila PIO, the following steps were followed during the simulation for those who will pre-register for the vaccination: checking of vital signs, screening and verification, vaccination proper, and observation at the holding area.
Meanwhile, the following steps were observed for those who will undergo walk-in registration: checking of vital signs, walk-in registration, screening and verification, vaccination proper, and observation at the holding area.
The Manila LGU has been doing simulation exercises of the vaccination program since January.
