MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area was spotted off Mindanao, while cool weather is expected in most parts of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted 1,665 kilometers east of Mindanao.
The LPA, so far, has no direct effect on weather conditions in the country, Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.
Meanwhile, the “amihan” is currently bringing cold weather to Northern and Central Luzon, and will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers toMetro Manila, Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, Aurelio said.
