1 killed, another wounded in Davao del Sur gun attack
DIGOS CITY—One person was killed and another was wounded in a gun attack in Matanao town, Davao del Sur province shortly before midnight on Wednesday (Feb. 10), according to police.
Maj. Rhuel Barachina, Matanao police chief, said Frederick Artiaga Villa and Regie Baldoza, both of the village of Ceboza, were on a motorcycle when another motorcycle carrying three persons opened fire at the three as they were at the village of New Visayas around 11:45 p.m.
Barachina said Villa died on the spot after two bullets hit his back while his co-rider Baldoza suffered a gunshot wound in the arm.
Police were told that the victims were heading toward Kilometer 71 at Sinawilan village.
The suspects immediately fled after the shooting, witnesses told police.
The identities of the assailants and motive for the attack are still unknown.
