House passes version of new passport bill

The House of Representatives has passed on final reading on Tuesday House Bill No. 8513, or the Philippine Passport Act, which imposes harsher penalties on forgery and improper use of passports and travel documents. The measure is a consolidation of seven bills repealing Republic Act No. 8239, or the Philippine Passport Act of 1996. —JULIE M. AURELIO
