Senate panel opens online desk for complaints about LTO’s ‘slow, corrupt’ services
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate blue ribbon committee launched an online complaint desk on Wednesday for those who have concerns over the “slow and corrupt services” of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
The panel chairman, Sen. Richard Gordon, said complainants would only need to fill out an online form on www.lingkodgordon.com.
“Through our virtual complaint desk, we hope to encourage our people to participate by sending their concerns and complaints. All they must do is fill out a form online. Rest assured that their identities will be kept private,” Gordon said in a statement.
In Filipino, he added: “Now there’s a place to go to for our countrymen who have had enough of the slow or corrupt services of the LTO, especially the millions of Filipinos who have not acquired motorcycle plates up to now and those victimized by unscrupulous motorcycle dealers.”
The online complaint desk, according to Gordon, seeks to collect data in connection with the ongoing investigation of the blue ribbon committee ongoing investigation on the alleged misfeasance, malfeasance and nonfeasance in the implementation of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Law (Republic Act No. 11235).
That law seeks to secure and safeguard people from crimes committed using motorcycles by imposing bigger, readable, and color-coded number plates to make it easier for eyewitnesses to identify the number plates of motorcycles used in crimes that they saw.
Gordon has repeatedly castigated the LTO over its “very slow” implementation of the law, which was enacted in 2019.
“We came up with the idea of putting up a complaint center following our investigation on the LTO’s non-implementation of R.A. 11235, where we discovered various anomalies surrounding the agency,” the senator said.
“This way, we hope to help our people by making their voices heard. Our committee will compile the forms, analyze them and take the necessary actions,” he added.
Gordon likewise encouraged the public to report incidents and crimes involving the use of motorcycle vehicles.
“We must put an end to these fraudulent acts. If we do nothing, the corruption in the government will not stop and the poor will remain deprived. If the killings will be unbridled, crimes will continue to terrorize our country,” he said.
