Talisay City mayor tests positive for COVID-19

CEBU CITY –– Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas on Wednesday, Feb, 10, announced that he tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In his Facebook post, Gullas said he experienced sore throat, body aches, and cough on Tuesday, prompting him to undergo a swab test, which subsequently yielded positive results.

“Since yesterday, I and my family have undergone quarantine to recover from this,” he said.

Gullas assured Talisay City residents that services would not be hampered amid his absence.

As of Feb. 8, Talisay City, a component of Cebu Province, has a total of 1,328 COVID-19 cases but only 151 were active. It also recorded 104 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
