Tabal sets comeback in SM run

AROUND 700 long distance runners have enlisted to compete in the 21-kilometer half marathon division of the second SM-2-SM Run slated to happen on Feb. 12, 2012 at the SM City Cebu.

The number is part of the 2,100 runners who have registered for the running event organized by SM Prime Holdings and the Run For Sight Foundation of Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III.

“We are expecting the Kenyan runners to compete in the 21k while Mary Joy Tabal will also make her comeback race in the distance so it’s going to be a very exciting run,” said Larrazabal.

Aside from the 21k half marathon, the race will also have a 3-kilometer, 6k and 12k categories. According to Larrazabal the 12k finishers will also receive specially designed medals along with the 21k finishers.

During its inaugural race last year, the race attracted almost 4,000 runners. Larrazabal also happily announced that 50 married couples have already registered to join the couple’s category of the 12k and 21k categories.

The 21k registration fee is pegged at P700, while the 12k runners will need to pay P550. The 6k and 3k categories on the other hand will have a registration fee of P250.

The fees include a race shirt and an eco-friendly bag filled with goodies from SM City Cebu.

Winners in the 21k division will get P30,000 each while the top finishers in the 12k will take home P10,000 each. Winning couples in both the 21k and 12k divisions will win an overnight stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Meanwhile, the winners in the 6k category will pocket P5,000 each. Winners in the couples 12k and 21k categories will win
