Duterte forms National Amnesty Commission
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte had signed an executive order creating a National Amnesty Commission (NAC) to receive and process applications for amnesty of former rebels and insurgents.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the NAC would be composed of seven members, with the chair and two regular commissioners to be appointed by the President.
The interior, defense and justice secretaries, and the presidential adviser on peace, reconciliation and unity are ex officio members.
Roque said the primary task for the commission was to receive and process applications and identify those who are qualified to be granted amnesty.
