CITY OF CALAPAN – Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police force personnel recently assumed “eco warrior” roles and planted 15,058 tree seedlings in 106 areas in the region.
The police “eco-warriors” planted the seedlings in 96 agricultural areas and 10 mangrove forests during a simultaneous regionwide tree planting activity on Saturday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa police information officer, said Brigadier General Pascual Muñoz, Jr., regional director, led the activity wherein 3,817 police personnel, representatives from government agencies and stakeholders “volted-in to address climate change and biodiversity loss”.
Planted were 10, 673 hardwoods, 1,515 fruit-bearing trees and 2,870 mangroves.
Participants signed a commitment pledge “to grow more trees, to replace every harvested tree and to help protect the trees planted, in addressing environmental degradation and providing sustainable natural resources to the communities”.
