MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) is scheduled to conduct 101 licensure examinations this year, and would follow health protocols in the test venues to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to its chair Teofilo Pilando Jr.

Pilando said this was to make up for last year when only 11 exams were conducted because of the pandemic.

But Pilando said some professional boards had recommended the postponement of this year’s licensure exams for various reasons.

For the exams to be allowed to push through, the priority should be those professions involved in the pandemic response, he said.

Health protocols would be strictly followed for the exams, he said.

These include the polymerase chain reaction test and quarantine for examinees and personnel, and the designation of additional exam venues to lessen the need for examinees to travel. —Leila B. Salaverria and Dona Z. Pazzibugan
