Authorities burn P904M worth of chemicals, lab tools used to make 'shabu'

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities from the Valenzuela City government and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday destroyed over P904 million worth of controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) and laboratory equipment used to produce crystal meth, locally known as shabu.

According to PDEA, specific shabu laboratory equipment that were incinerated at the Green Plant Management, Inc. (GPMI) facility in Barangay Punturin, Valenzuela City include:

PDEA chief Wilkins Villanueva said the burning of CPECs and laboratory tools was in “compliance with the guidelines set on the custody and disposition of seized dangerous drugs  under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1, Series of 2002.”
