TACLOBAN CITY—Police said a New People’s Army (NPA) guerrilla surrendered in Northern Samar province.
The guerrilla, known only as Ka Rolly, also surrendered an M-16 assault rifle, a caliber 357 revolver and ammunition to Col. Arnel Apud, Northern Samar police chief, at the PNP office in Camp Carlos Delgado in Catarman town.
Ka Rolly, now 57, has been with NPA since he was 14-years-old, said Apud.
He was member of a militia unit of NPA led by a certain Commander Ising that operated in the province’s first district.
In a statement, Apud said Ka Rolly returned to the folds of the law since he wanted to be with his family.
“I urge the public to help the government in the dissemination of the benefits offered to those who will surrender,” he said in a statement.
Apud said Ka Rolly will be given all financial and livelihood assistance from the government.
