LEGAZPI CITY—Philippine flags in Albay province would be flown at half-staff in all government buildings and public places as a sign of mourning for the death of former Bicolano senator Victor Ziga.

Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara issued an executive order to fly Philippine flags at half-staff in the entire province from Feb. 2 to 7 as a gesture of respect and recognition of Ziga for his service to province and nation.

The former senator, who was among those on the Senate ticket of the late President Corazon Aquino in the elections that followed People Power in 1986, died at the age of 75 last Sunday (Jan. 31) of heart and multiple organ failure at St. Luke’s Hospital in BGC, Taguig City.

His remains will lie in state at the Loyola Memorial Chapel in Sucat, Parañaque for five days before cremation.
