DAGUPAN CITY—A dead baby was found floating on the Estacada River in Urdaneta City early on Monday (Feb. 1), according to authorities.

SMsgt Rodolfo Sumio, Urdaneta police investigator, said an umbilical cord was still attached to the baby when found by a resident at the village of Cabulon who was gathering bamboo.

The resident said the baby was brought to a funeral parlor, hoping for a relative to claim the body.

If identified, the baby’s mother could face a case of infanticide, murder or homicide.
