MANILA, Philippines — Only a maximum of 10 persons will participate in every activity during the Chinese New Year in San Juan to avoid the risk of Covid-19 transmission among communities, city government said Tuesday.
In an executive order (EO), San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said the local government will regulate the festivities during the celebration of the Chinese New Year on Feb. 12.
“Only a maximum of ten (10) persons for every event, activity, or festivity in celebration of the Chinese New Year shall be allowed. This guideline is applicable in both public (parks, malls, restaurants) and private (homes, subdivisions, condominiums) places,” read the order.
Meanwhile, Zamora also ordered malls and restaurants hosting Chinese New Year activities to comply with minimum health standards required by the national government.
The mayor said law enforcers, City Traffic and Parking Management Office, Public Order and Safety Office, Task Force Disiplina, Barangay Officials and Police/Task Force and Barangay Tanods will implement the EO.
Data from Department of Health on Monday showed that San Juan has 4,043 total Covid-19 cases with 87 active cases, 3,873 recoveries and 83 deaths.
In Manila, the local government banned dragon dance, street party, stage show, parade or any other similar activity during Chinese New Year from February 11 to 12 due to the Covid-19 crisis.
