9 ex-cops in Army intel men slay still at large

/ 04:36 AM February 02, 2021

Nearly a month after the Philippine National Police freed from its custody nine dismissed Sulu policemen accused of killing four Army intelligence officers, not one has been arrested. Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of the PNP, said the nine ex-cops had gone into hiding in Jolo town and were being hunted while “negotiations” for their surrender continued. Sinas noted that the nine men have more to fear as police investigators looked into the possibility that the killing of former Jolo police chief, Lt. Col. Walter Annayo, in November was an act of revenge for the June 29 deaths of 11th Infantry Division’s 9th intelligence service unit members Maj. Marvin Indammog; Capt. Irwin Managuelod; Cpl. Abdal Asula, and Sgt. Jaime Velasco. Two suspects in Annayo’s killing were confirmed to be related to one of the Army men killed, Sinas said. —Jeanette I. Andrade
