MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police is setting its sights on acquiring more aircraft to fight crime better.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas the PNP was planning to acquire at least 20 aircraft which could be helicopters or planes.

He told reporters on Monday (Feb. 1) that programmed for acquisition in 2021 were 12 aircraft but the entire acquisition program of the PNP called for at least 20 air assets including two fixed-wing planes.

He did not provide details about the acquisition plan, however.

Last week, the PNP formally accepted the delivery of three brand new H-125 Airbus single engine helicopters.

The PNP has now seven H-125 Airbus choppers, two R-22 Robinson choppers and a fixed-wing trainer plane in its fleet.
