Hospital ends year with outreach

THE Perpetual Succour Hospital (PSH) ended 2011 with successful outreach programs for its two adopted barangays and patients.

Last Dec. 20, the PSH team organized a Christmas party and gift-giving in Upper Laguerta, barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Medical social workers Venches Queque and Juliet Sanchez, together with doctors, marketing staff, sisters of the St. Paul of Chartres, and volunteers conducted various activities for the residents, including a forum on the hospital’s services, party games for adults and the children and the giving of goods and slippers to selected residents during the Misa de Gallo.

Packed lunch and ice cream were also given to them by Corky Cotelo of Waterfront Hotels and Casinos.

On Dec. 21, another team surprised PSH’s Charity Ward patients with a party, with the help of Cebu Daily News, Uratex and Dimsum Break.

Cebu Daily News mascot, Siloy, performed dance numbers to the delight of the patients, while Uratex gave out grocery items and pillows and Dimsum Break provided the food and drinks.

A traditional caroling for the patients was held on Dec. 25, where each patient received a scapular and a rosary.

The pedia patients were also given biscuits and candies.

Another Christmas party was held in sitio Camagong last Dec. 27. Dr. Jemela Anne Sanchez gave food together with the PSH staff.

They also gave school supplies to the kids and grocery items to the residents.

The residents also received donations of grocery items from the St. Therese Diocesan Shrine Association, Leyte, last Jan. 4.

The PSH initiative of sharing and giving is practiced not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the year.

Perpetual Succour Hospital is owned and managed by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres.
