Inday Sara warns public vs solicitations for her supposed presidential bid

MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has cautioned the public against individuals soliciting donations in support of her purported 2022 presidential run.

“Nakarating po sa akin ang balita na may mga indibidwal na humihingi ng pera sa ibang tao at iba’t-ibang grupo, kabilang na ang mga negosyante, para daw gawing campaign funds sa aking pagtakbo bilang presidente,” Duterte-Carpio said in a video message Thursday from the Davao City Public Information Office.

(I have received reports that some individuals are soliciting funds from other people and groups, including businessmen, allegedly for campaign funds for my candidacy as president.)

“Wala po itong pahintulot mula sa akin. Huwag po kayong maniwala, huwag po kayong magbigay,” she added.

(I did not consent to this. Please do not believe this and do not give them money.)

Duterte-Carpio urged the public to report these kinds of scams to the police.

A recent Pulse Asia survey has shown the Davao City mayor leading the list of possible presidential candidates in the 2022 elections.

Duterte-Carpio herself said she has no intentions to run for the country’s top post.

President Rodrigo Duterte also said his daughter will not run for president, saying he discouraged her from doing so because the presidency is “not a woman’s job.”
