MANILA, Philippines — The main building of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Pasay City will be on temporary lockdown after some officers tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

In a tweet Thursday, responding to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about their earlier conversation, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. disclosed that he would be undergoing quarantine after he interacted with DFA officers who contracted Covid-19.

“Great conversation. Will get a lot done soon. Sadly I must quarantine. I’m negative but the building and officers I met yesterday tested positive,” the DFA secretary wrote on Twitter.

“We’re going into lockdown [until] Tuesday when we test again. Again thank you for the call. Please tell your President what I said,” he added.

In a separate advisory, the DFA said its main building located along Roxas Boulevard will be temporarily closed beginning Friday, January 29, “as part of the [d]epartment’s assessment of public health and safety measures currently in place.”

“The reopening date may be moved further, depending on the results of the assessment,” it added.

The DFA said its consular services will remain open at the DFA-Consular Office in ASEANA in accordance with its published operating hours.
