MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government is considering enlisting nuns who are former medical workers as vaccinators for its Covid-19 immunization drive.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte disclosed this Thursday, as the local government presented its preparations for mass vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
According to Belmonte, the city government will coordinate with religious institutions, among others, to help them carry out the inoculation campaign.

“Many of the nuns that work in the religious sector are nurses so we are asking the religious sector to help us in these particular issues,” she said in a press conference.
Earlier, the Quezon City government said it aims to vaccinate 1.6 million residents or 54 percent of the city population in six to eight months this year.
To date, Quezon City has logged 30,009 Covid-19 cases. This number includes the 1,184 active cases, 28,023 recovered patients, and 802 fatalities.
