MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government will ask its police department to explain the alleged failure to control fans of Willie Revillame, who gathered in front of Wil Tower for his birthday on Wednesday, City Mayor Joy Belmonte said Thursday.

“I was told today the QCPD (Quezon City Police Department) sent a contingent, so I have to get a side of their story. Wala pa silang finu-furnish na incident report. Gusto kong malaman na bakit may reports ang media ng crowd control,” Belmonte said in a press conference at Quezon City Hall on vaccination plan, when sought for comment about the crowd control issue at Wil Tower.

(They have yet to furnish their incident report. I just want to know why there are reports in the media about crowd control.)

“Yesterday, a crowd gathered outside Wil Tower because it was the 60th birthday of Willie Revillame,” said Belmonte.

“It is his [Revillame] custom that whenever it is his birthday, people come and visit him, and he also gives his assistance to indigent members of the society and he was worried,” she added.

Prior to the mass gathering, Belmonte said she already told Revillame to ready lawmen or security personnel to make sure there is crowd control for his fans.

“I told him [Revillame] to station his officers to make sure that there is crowd control,” said Belmonte.
